Carrie Berry is a classically trained, professional artist whose work is shown privately and professionally from coast to coast. Carrie has drawn and painted since her childhood and firmly believes that growing up along the Riverbend area near Alton, Illinois instilled her love of nature and wildlife and continues to inspire her painterly landscapes.

Her passion for mark making and color were later to be developed upon acceptance to the Art and Design School at Southern Illinois University; Edwardsville that yielded a BFA double major in drawing and painting. The SIUE campus was tucked away in the forested hills of Southern Illinois, resembling a nature preserve, and was the perfect backdrop for developing ideas and perfecting her skills.

Upon completion of her degree she took the words of short story writer Flannery O’Connor to heart - “Study something that makes you feel more alive because of it. If you find a subject that is worth your blood, sweat, tears, and lack of sleep, then you may well find an approach to work that will build the foundation for a life and career that is meaningful…it just might involve risk.”

The greatest risk she’s taken uprooted her from the sleepy, autumnal riverbanks and planted her in sunny, breezy, Central Florida where she continues to forge her artistic career.

Set against a new coastal backdrop, Carrie’s love of nature continues to be at the heart of her work- featuring The Great Blue Heron, Florida Black Bear, and a variety of Billfish. Her style is impressionistic, painterly, and intuitive with vibrant strokes that add moments of intensity.

Carrie’s art comes from a life of constant inspiration where she seeks the beauty in nature around her and captures the ephemeral with powerful strokes and pointed light.
